Relaxed dental care in a friendly environment

Oral and Mouth Cancer

Through regular check-ups, we are able to detect early signs of oral and mouth cancer in patients. An oral cancer examination is painless and quick taking only a few minutes during which we will check your face, neck, lips, and entire mouth.

If you suffer any of the following symptoms for more than two weeks, then arrange an appointment with us:

To reduce your risk of mouth cancer you should stop smoking, cut down on your alcohol intake and eat a healthy diet with at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day.

Cosmetic Dentistry

We have a number of experts in cosmetic dentistry who are able to use routine dental procedures to reshape your teeth, close gaps and contour gums. These procedures are usually less intrusive and effective than opting for plastic surgery.

We can also whiten your teeth using the revolutionary 'Britesmile' technology which is guaranteed to enhance your smile!

Nutrition and Diet

Following a healthy diet is essential to maintaining your oral health. You should try and limit sugary or starchy foods and fizzy drinks as these support the formation of plaque which can destroy your tooth enamel. Try and eat a well-balanced diet, and for snacks, choose nutritious foods such as raw vegetables, fruit and cheese.

Bad Breath

The main causes of bad breath are:

Sucking on a mint or chewing gum can make your bad breath worse as many mints are full of sugar. To combat bad breath during the day, either try brushing your teeth or chew some sugar-free gum to stimulate the saliva in your mouth which can fight the bacteria.

Smoking

Smoking is bad news for your teeth but you probably knew that already. Smoking does the following to your mouth

Tooth Decay

Tooth decay is the disease known as caries or cavities. Unlike other diseases, caries is not life threatening and is highly preventable. It affects most people to some degree during their lifetime.

Tooth decay occurs when your teeth are frequently exposed to foods containing carbohydrates (starches and sugars) such as sweets, ice cream, milk, fizzy drinks, cakes, and even fruits, vegetables and juices. Natural bacteria live in your mouth and form plaque. The plaque interacts with deposits left on your teeth from sugary and starchy foods to produce acids. These acids damage tooth enamel over time by dissolving the mineral structure of teeth, resulting in tooth decay and weakening the teeth.

Mouthguards

If you play contact sports, like rugby or hockey, then you can protect your teeth with a mouthguard. Contact us for a fitting.
